Resources for Artists and the Art Loving Community

The ragaZagar residency brought Isaiah Zagar, artist of the internationally famous Philadelphia Magic Gardens to Topeka.  Sponsored by NOTO ArtsPlace in partnership with the Mulvane Museum at Washburn University, the Workshop taught 35 regional artists the Zagar Method of tile and mirror mosaic mural creation.  Other residency activities included a trip to Lucas with the Zagars to visit the Garden of Eden, an Exhibit and gallery talk at the Mulvane and an exhibit in the NOTO ArtsPlace Pop-Up Gallery.  Click the picture above to see more photos.

The NOTO ArtsPlace Gallery features regional artists and special educational exhibits.  Not a traditional commercial gallery, you probably won't find a painting here to match your sofa but if you are interested in creativity and exploration of ideas through art, check out the current exhibit by clicking the photo above.

NOTO ArtsPlace is a community oriented project of Place Properties, LLC.  Place was created by Zach, Edie and Don Snethen and Michael Bradley to rescue three previously abandoned buildings in the NOTO Arts District in historic North Topeka from scheduled demolition.  The goal for this project is to create services and spaces for Artists and the Art-Loving public through providing workshops for artists and community members, access to community ceramic and printmaking studios (and possibly darkroom and performance spaces in the future) as well as individual studio space at reasonable cost.  For more about services for artists click the left photo above.  For more about Place Property's renovation activities in NOTO click the right photo.
